Founded by teachers and parents, the APCM was created in 1994 and first opened its doors on June 1, 1997 at 99 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. Since then, the museum has moved to its current location at 29 South Broad Street in Westfield, MA and opened its doors again September 27, 2008.
APCM Board of Directors hired the first Executive Director Karen Rubin in March 2011. Karen has over 25 years of formal and informal teaching and working in Museums. She has recently moved from New Jersey and lives in Amherst, MA with her husband. Karen has three amazing daughters all pursuing college degrees.
Our Mission: APCM provides an enriching environment where children and their families can learn about themselves, their communities, and the world around them. Integrated throughout the museum is a broad range of creative exhibits and imaginative hands-on activities, which foster a climate of learning and exploration. Central to the museum's philosophy is that children can learn through the arts, history, science, and the region's rich environmental and cultural diversity.
Thank you to the 2011 APCM Board. The Amelia Park Children's Museum and it's patrons truly appreciate your time, efforts and service.
